I am in the Ministry to Fathers class and we have been focusing on our personal relationships with our own fathers. We also had to interview our dads and then write a reflection paper about how the interview went. “Daughters” by John Mayer was one of the songs that tugged at my heart this week. I interviewed my dad over spring break and I truly believe that God put “Daughters” in my path. This song is all about the relationship between fathers and daughters and how it affects the past, present and future.
I have been struggling with trying to forgive my dad and this has been on my heart all week. This song helped me see that relationships are tough and people do go through rough patches, but my relationship with my dad is important. God gave me this wonderful dad who will make mistakes, but I need to forgive him when he does fall short. If i don't forgive him now, then this destructive relationship will continue on to the next generation and the next until one brave daughter shows her daddy unconditional love.
